Lafayette Chapter of Louisiana Credit Union League 2019 Scholarship
The Lafayette Chapter of the Louisiana Credit Union League (LCUL) is sponsoring three $1,000 college scholarships to be awarded in the Spring of 2019. Entries are accepted from members of several participating local credit unions. This scholarship is an annual award and winners are selected through a random drawing among qualified applicants. The scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors and currently enrolled undergraduate college or technical school students. Any member of University of Louisiana Federal Credit Union that meets the criteria is eligible to apply.

Scholarship Winner and Recipient
The application process was open in January and February of this year. Of the 6 participating credit unions, there were 69 applicants and 16 were from ULFCU. We are proud of announce the first scholarship award winner from UL Federal Credit Union, Ms. Hortencia Cervantez.
Ms. Cervantez has been a ULFCU member since 2018. She is a Lafayette High School graduate and is currently studying Child and Family Studies here at UL. She is a Peer Mentor with the UL Life Program and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. She is an advocate for mental health which has inspired her to become a counselor. After college she plans to work for a non-profit until later attending graduate school.
